🔒 Privacy Policy
Short version: this is an independent fan site that tries to feel like the old web — so there are no ads, no third-party analytics, and no cross-site tracking. We collect the bare minimum needed to run the site, and we never sell your data (we don’t even have a way to).
Who runs this site
The Crypt Keeper Archive is an unofficial fan project created and maintained by Trey Cox Creative. It is not affiliated with any rights holders (see the About page).
What we collect
- A visitor-counter cookie. We set a single first-party cookie (
cka_v) so the nostalgic “visitors” counter in the footer doesn’t double-count you on every page. It stores no personal information — just a flag — and expires in about 30 days. - Aggregate counts. We keep running totals of page views and unique-ish visitors. These are plain numbers, not tied to any individual.
- Server logs. Like virtually every website, our host records standard technical access and error logs (which can include IP address, browser/user-agent, and timestamps). These are used only to keep the site running and secure, and they rotate/expire over time.
- Crypt Chat. If you post in the Crypt Chat,
we store the display name you choose, your message, and your IP address (for moderation and
anti-abuse). Your chosen name is also kept in a first-party cookie (
cka_chat) so you don’t have to retype it. Chat messages are public — don’t post anything private. - Admin activity. If someone logs into the private admin area, we store a temporary session cookie and an internal audit log of their actions. This applies to site administrators only, not ordinary visitors.
What we do NOT do
- No advertising networks.
- No Google Analytics or other third-party visitor-tracking scripts.
- No cross-site tracking, fingerprinting, or selling/sharing of personal data.
- No accounts, newsletters, or data collection forms for visitors.
Links to other sites
The Archive links out to third parties — news sources in the newswire, “Watch now” services (Shudder, Plex, Prime Video, JustWatch), reference links, and other sites in The Old Web Project webring. Once you follow a link, you’re on someone else’s site, under their privacy policy. We don’t control or receive data from them.
News & metadata sources
The site aggregates publicly available RSS/feed headlines and pulls episode information and posters from the OMDb API. That process gathers data about shows — not about you.
Your choices
You can block or delete cookies in your browser at any time; the site still works fine (the counter just won’t recognize return visits). Most browsers also offer a “Do Not Track” setting, which is moot here since we don’t track you across sites anyway.
Children
This is a horror-themed site intended for general/adult audiences and is not directed at children under 13.
Hosting
The site is hosted on Hostinger’s servers, which process the standard technical logs described above on our behalf.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update the date at the top. Material changes will be reflected here.
